About WCO Scholarship
The Japan-WCO Human Resource Development Programme (Scholarship Programme) provides a grant covering travel, subsistence, admission, tuition and other approved expenses to enable promising young Customs officers from a developing country member of the WCO to undertake Master’s level studies at the Aoyama Gakuin University (AGU) in Tokyo, Japan.
Benefits
- A monthly stipend will be provided to you to cover lodging, food, transportation, and other costs. It cannot be raised to include any family members. The Japanese government has the right to modify the stipend amount at any time.
- The program will pay for all entrance and tuition costs.
- You will be given economy class round-trip tickets from your native nation to Japan.
Eligibility
In order to apply, you must full fill the following application conditions:
- As a candidate, you must be a customs officer for a developing WCO member ().
- You must have at least two years of solid work experience in your own country’s customs policy and administration.
- Candidates with experience in IPR border enforcement and who want to work in the IPR-related sector of their Customs administration after completing this Scholarship Program will be given preference.
- You should be in good health.
- Eligible candidates should be under the age of 40 as of April 1, 2025.
- If you have previously been granted, you are not eligible to apply for this Scholarship Programme again.
- After completing the program, candidates should continue to work in their home Customs administration for at least three years.
Application
To apply, you are advised to follow the following procedure:
- To be admitted, you must first complete an online registration.
- During the application for admission, you will also be required that you wish to be considered for the scholarship.
- Complete the application correctly and submit it before the deadline.
