Radcliffe Institute Fellowship Program at Harvard University in the U.S

The Radcliffe Fellowship Program at Harvard University in the U.S. is now accepting applications. Each academic year, the program awards 50 fellowships to individuals or groups of two to three people working on the same project. The program prioritizes diversity across various dimensions, including discipline, career stage, race and ethnicity, country of origin, gender and sexual orientation, and ideological perspective.

Radcliffe fellows come from a wide range of backgrounds and are united by their excellence, creativity, and collegiality. They include exceptional scientists, writers, scholars, public intellectuals, practitioners, and artists whose work has a significant impact on their professional fields and beyond.

The Radcliffe Institute fellows program runs for nine (9) months from September 1, 2025, through May 31, 2026. As a program core principle, they challenge each other’s ideas and support each other’s ambitions. Throughout the year, these fellows will convene regularly to share their work in progress on several projects. write in 3rd person.

Benefits:

Successful applicants will benefit from a scholarship program as described below:

  • Selected fellows will be awarded a stipend of $78,000, along with an additional $5,000 to support project-related expenses.
  • Fellows are required to be free from their regular professional commitments, enabling them to focus entirely on the work proposed in their fellowship application.
  • As an in-residence fellowship, fellows will be expected to reside in the Greater Boston area throughout the fellowship period.
  • Eligible fellows may receive extra financial support for moving expenses, childcare, and housing to facilitate a smooth transition.
  • Healthcare options will also be provided to fellows if needed.

Eligibility:

The program is open to 4 major categories:

1. Humanists and Social Scientists

2. Creative Artists (including Journalists and Nonfiction writers)

3. Scientists, Engineers, and Mathematicians

4. Practitioners

As a general eligibility criteria, applicants must meet the following application conditions

  • Applicants from around the world are welcome to apply for the fellowship program. Harvard University typically sponsors J-1 scholar visas for Harvard Radcliffe Fellows.
  • Applicants must have received their doctorate in the area of their proposed project at least two years before their appointment as a fellow.
  • Humanists and social scientists applying must have published a monograph or at least two articles in refereed journals or edited collections.
  • Scientists, engineers, and mathematicians must have published at least five articles in refereed journals to be considered eligible for the program.
