On 5 July 2024, Hoa Sen University was honored to host an esteemed lecture by Associate Professor Shannon Gramse from the University of Alaska Anchorage. The event, “Navigating Cultural Diversity in the 21st Century: Strategies for Effective Global Collaboration” has provided valuable insights into fostering mutual understanding, respect, and effective collaboration across cultures.

Shannon Gramse’s Journey Through Writing, Poetry, and Global Exchange

For almost two decades Shannon Gramse was an associate professor of writing at the University of Alaska Anchorage. His areas of interest in research were place-based and postcolonial pedagogies, poetry, Russian literature, Vietnamese language and culture. He co-founded and co-edited the international periodical and book series of circumpolar poetry in translation called Ice-Floe. He engaged in an educational and cultural interaction connecting the House of Wisdom movement in Vietnam with the University of Alaska for the previous few years.

Drawing from real-world examples and best practices, Associate Professor Gramse shared practical approaches to navigate cultural differences and unleash the potential of diversity in education, business, and international relations. Attendees gained strategies for enhancing cultural intelligence, communication, and adaptability – essential skills for successful global collaborations.

During the 45-minute interactive talk show, attendees gathered vital insights from the experienced expert, and networking chances to use new-found abilities and interact with peers across multiple platforms.

The Q&A session at the end of the sharing event attracted significant interest from the participating students and guests. They posed challenging questions for the speaker, Shannon Gramse, to address, highlighting the engaging nature of the talk show’s topic.
