[RECAP] The third NEAS Accreditation Certificate Award Ceremony for the General English Program and Professional Development Workshop
On July 2, 2024, Hoa Sen University (HSU) again achieved NEAS certification for its General English program. Notably, HSU remains the first and only university in Vietnam to achieve this prestigious accreditation.
The event was attended by many diplomatic partners, educators and Dr. Phan Thi Viet Nam, Vice President of Hoa Sen University and HSU lecturers and students.
The award ceremony featured NEAS CEO Adam Kilburn, who presented the certificate and conducted a teacher professional workshop titled “Implementing NEAS-Recommended Practices for ESL Instructors’ Professional Development Plan.”
NEAS, a leading global authority in English language teaching quality assessment, awarded HSU this endorsement. With over 200 members across Australia, the Asia-Pacific Region, and the Middle East, NEAS’s recognition underscores HSU’s commitment to excellence in English language education.
As Chief Executive Officer at NEAS Australia, Adam Kilburn brings extensive experience in the English Language Teaching sector. He has worked in the ELT industry for over 30 years, having held a range of management positions in academic, marketing and general management roles.

The seminar featuring Mr. Adam Kilburn provided a wealth of valuable and profound insights into the challenges and perspectives of being an English educator. Mr. Kilburn discussed the difficulties in creating a multicultural learning environment and how to encourage the participation of students from various cultural backgrounds. He emphasized the importance of updating and applying modern teaching methods to enhance learning effectiveness.
During the discussion, Mr. Kilburn shared his personal experiences in navigating rapid technological changes and incorporating digital tools in teaching. He encouraged participants to continuously learn and develop subject expertise through courses and seminars.
Additionally, Mr. Kilburn highlighted the role of educators in building trust and positive relationships with students, helping them feel confident and motivated in their learning journey. His insights have inspired and provided many useful strategies for ESL instructors to improve teaching quality and better meet the needs of their students.
