SCHOLARSHIP 2025 FULBRIGHT VIETNAMESE VISITING STUDENT RESEARCHER PROGRAM IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The U.S. Mission in Vietnam seeks qualified candidates for the Vietnamese Visiting Student Researcher (VSR) Program. This non-degree program provides up to five fully-funded scholarships for individuals who are currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Science and Technology at an institution in Vietnam to advance their research from 6 to 10 months at a U.S. institution in academic year 2025.
VSRs affiliate with a specific faculty member at a U.S. institution and do not take credit-bearing classes. As their research is intended to be a full-time activity, VSRs cannot engage in other work opportunities. VSR’s are expected to start their programs within the U.S. academic year (August – May) following selection for a Fulbright grant. As Fulbright is both an academic and cultural exchange program, VSR’s must live in the U.S. community of the host institution where they are affiliated and are expected to engage with the local U.S. community.
ELIGIBILITY
- Be Vietnamese citizen (no dual citizenship)
- Be residing in Vietnam starting from the application
- Hold a Master degree
- Be currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program at a university in Vietnam in Science and Technology (VSRs should not complete their Ph.D. studies before arriving in the U.S. or while in the U.S.)

Applicants will be expected to have a significant record of scholarly or professional accomplishments. Applicants must return to Vietnam upon completion of their U.S. stay. Preference will be given to applicants without prior significant experience in the U.S. and/or overseas.
The Vietnamese Visiting Student Researcher Program actively encourages women, minorities, and residents from all provinces to apply. It is open to all candidates who qualify through open competition on the basis of academic and professional merit without regard to race, religion, gender or affiliation.
