]]>The U.S. Mission in Vietnam seeks qualified candidates for the Vietnamese Visiting Student Researcher (VSR) Program. This non-degree program provides up to five fully-funded scholarships for individuals who are currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Science and Technology at an institution in Vietnam to advance their research from 6 to 10 months at a U.S. institution in academic year 2025.
VSRs affiliate with a specific faculty member at a U.S. institution and do not take credit-bearing classes. As their research is intended to be a full-time activity, VSRs cannot engage in other work opportunities. VSR’s are expected to start their programs within the U.S. academic year (August ?May) following selection for a Fulbright grant. As Fulbright is both an academic and cultural exchange program, VSR’s must live in the U.S. community of the host institution where they are affiliated and are expected to engage with the local U.S. community.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants should be university faculty, government officials, private sector professionals, work at a think tank, or occupy similar positions. Applicants will be expected to have a significant record of scholarly or professional accomplishments. Applicants must return to Vietnam upon completion of their U.S. stay. Preference will be given to applicants without prior significant experience in the U.S. and/or overseas.
The Vietnamese Visiting Student Researcher Program actively encourages women, minorities, and residents from all provinces to apply. It is open to all candidates who qualify through open competition on the basis of academic and professional merit without regard to race, religion, gender or affiliation.
Science and Technology. As part of the commitment the United States make to support Vietnam’s goal of training of a high-tech workforce, the Fulbright program especially welcomes applications from candidates in electrical engineering, materials science, and fields of study related to semi?/s>conductors.

The Fulbright FLTA Program is a nine-month, State Department-funded, non-degree program for early career (not more than seven years of teaching experience) full-time English teachers or professionals in related fields to teach their native language at an American college or university. Candidates who are teachers in the field of American Studies, Journalism and Media, American/English Literature, and teachers of their own language as foreign language will also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Participants have an opportunity to refine their teaching skills, increase their English language proficiency, and extend their knowledge of the society and culture of the United States while serving as teaching assistants in the instruction of their native language to U.S. students and strengthening foreign language instruction at U.S. colleges and universities. Fulbright FLTA participants also interact with their host communities in conversations groups, extracurricular activities, and community outreach projects.
Fulbright FLTA participants will assist in up to twenty hours of language classes a week and are required to enroll in at least two courses per semester, one of which must be in U.S. Studies. Coursework is offered on either an audit or credit basis. Fulbright FLTA participants will also be expected to facilitate in-person or virtual cultural events, language clubs, and language tables. Fulbright FLTA participants are required to return to their home countries upon completion of the nine-month program. The Fulbright FLTA program does not support dependents or family members. Candidates may not have any dependents accompany them for any length of time during the program, although family and friends may visit program participants during holiday periods. As an extension of this policy, pregnant candidates may not participate in the program if the birth is expected during the program period.
Competition is merit-based and candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Applicants will be considered without regards to race, religion, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, geographic location, socio-economic status, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
