According to the latest statistics from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the aviation industry consumes nearly 8% of the world’s gasoline and oil products. This number is equivalent to 7 million barrels of fuel per day, of which passenger aircraft account for more than 90%. Proportionate to the amount of fuel consumed, flights also release an average of 1 billion tons of carbon per year, accounting for nearly 3% of global emissions.
