Two programs of Hoa Sen University was officially assessed by AUN-QA
Hoa Sen University (HSU) hosted a welcoming ceremony for the AUN-QA delegation to officially assessed two of its programs, English Language Studies and Hotel Management, on April 2, 2019, at its main campus on Nguyen Van Trang (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City).

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Ngai – Vice-President, Dr. Phan Thi Viet Nam – Head of the Center for Higher Education Research and Accreditation (CHERA), along with CHERA staff, leaders, and lecturers and staff of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Faculty of Tourism welcomed and worked with the AUN-QA delegation on the morning of April 2, 2019.

The AUN-QA delegation, led by Dr. Wyona C.Patalinghug – Acting Vice President of the AUN-QA Council, and experts including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vimolvan Pimpan – AUN-QA Quality Director, Dr. Veerades Panvisavas, Prof. Dr. Aleth Therese L. Dacanay, and Ms. Wyona C.Patalinghug, along with other AUN-QA experts, conducted the official assessment of HSU’s English Language Studies and Hotel Management programs from April 2-4, 2019, at the Nguyen Van Trang headquarters and Quang Trung 2 campus.
HSU’s Board of Presidents along with CHERA’s head and lecturers and staff welcomed the AUN-QA delegation.
At the welcoming ceremony for the AUN-QA delegation, Meritorious teacher. Prof. Dr. Mai Hong Quy – President of HSU, shared that the university was honored to welcome the delegates of AUN-QA. “Hoa Sen University is one of the most prestigious private universities in Ho Chi Minh City. With the program being assessed by AUN-QA this time, future students and other stakeholders will have more compelling evidence of their full trust in Hoa Sen University. We truly look forward to recommendations from the experienced assessors of AUN-QA to further enhance our quality.”

Previously, HSU conducted an internal assessment of its English Language studies and Hotel Management programs according to AUN-QA standards. The internal assessment team carried out surveys and assessments following the official AUN-QA assessment process, including listening to program reports, studying evidence documents, interviewing related parties (including faculties heads, the self-assessment team, program lecturers, students, support staff, alumni, businesses), and conducting on-site observations at the main headquarters for the program assessment according to AUN-QA standards.

In 2016, HSU was admitted as an associate member of AUN-QA and aimed to evaluate its programs according to this standard. The AUN-QA standard includes 11 criteria covering expected learning outcomes, academic programs, academic and support staff, students, infrastructure, quality enhancement, and outputs.
In 2017, HSU planned to conduct a self-assessment according to the 11 criteria of AUN-QA and registered for an official program assessment with AUN-QA in August 2017 for Hotel Management and English Language Studies program.
From September 2018 to February 2019, the programs conducted self-assessment activities. From April 2-4, 2019, AUN-QA experts conducted an official assessment visit at HSU. During the direct working process, AUN-QA experts exchanged with the two programs and related parties to help the assessed programs improve and enhance the academic quality.
